Running...

So I am in the middle of my half marathon training, actually the run is in 2 weeks and I actually have not officially signed up for it yet.  Struggling with money and the actual running at this point. I did finally breakdown and by my new shoes, Brooks Ghosts.  My last pair were well over 3 years old and so beyond needing to be replaced it is quite embarrising. 

So my long run on Sunday (11 miles) was absolutely HORRIBLE.  About 4 - 5 miles in my body starting feeling wore down and then I got stomach cramps.  Very grateful for the extra TP I keep in my bag, making sure that continues.  Posted at about mile 7 on how bad I was running and thanks to support from Joyce and Jeremy I knew I was going to have to do the full distance, but it ended up more as a run/walk than a true training run.










                                                                                                                                                           Wanting to ramp up my physical and nutritional training.  Want to see what I truly can accomplish when I get my mind to it.

Doing the #22pushupchallenge as well.  Also trying to add a Burpee challenge, Ft Monroe is not the place to do Burpees, sandspurs suck...LOL

What going on, what going on...

HEALTH/FITNESS

So over the past few months I have really been able to maintain and even increase my running schedule.  It is crazy that only a year ago I would have laughed until I snorted if you told me I would be averaging 2 mile runs at a time...I use to be winded after 2 driveways!  So far this year I have done three 5K runs and two 8K runs and I have two more 5K runs planned before the year is out.  And now with this I have tried to really change my eating habits as well, to more clean (less processed foods) eating.  So far the kids have not started holding picket signs and they really seem to enjoy and encourage some of these new habits.  Oh yeah did I mention I gave up sodas this year as well???  So I need to decide over the next couple of weeks what my goals for 2013 should be, although nothing that I have done this year was really planned, it just worked out this way!!!


HOME/ORGANIZATION

I am trying to little by little get my home back in order to where it feels like a home and not just a place that we go to at the end of the day.  With all the travel and schedule of events outside of the home I have really neglected it over the past couple of years.  I have started on a couple of little projects but my biggest obstacle is NOT FINISHING WHAT I START!!!!! 

  1. Top of the landing - need to put down laminate flooring
  2. Steps - took off carpet (which I love) but I need to at least paint the risers.
  3. Stools - started to strip off old paint, but only half way through that process :(  Sheesh!!!
There are many more projects I want to start but I MUST finish something before I begin another!!!!

FINANCES

I try to follow the Dave Ramsey way of life, but I start off well (see above) but I get lazy and just keep moving on and some times place my head in the sand and hope it all work out.  Unfortunately, Hope does not pay my bills!


Once again I need to maybe just commit to this post, at least once a week and maybe it will help in my motivation all around.

Starting over???

Okay, so I have not done so well with this blog..no big surprise.

Items I am working on now:

  • Home - Still trying to organize it:
    • I did partially complete a project by removing the carpet from the stairs, just need to paint risers and clean up hardwood stairs.
  • Work - organization would be very helpful as well
    • In Budget season so will be exceptionally busy
  • Health - I have actually lost about 25 pounds in the past year or so..
    • Did the Insanity program for about 3 weeks...it is a great program, but I think I need to it more when I am unable to get outside, like in the winter
    • Back to running, now I am up to 3 miles a day or everyother day...who knew I would actually like running
    • Looking into more "Clean Eating"
    • Share this passion for Fitness and better eating with my kids
Finally over the next month I am hoping to turn 40 with Grace...yes 40!!!!  UGHHH!!!

Goal is to expand on each area above and to at least post on a weekly basis

First Blog

This is my first attempt at Blogging!  It is actually kind of crazy that I would even want to try to attempt this.  I hated writing when I was in school, I would do anything I could to put off writing reports and assignments in English.  I hated to have my thoughts read and critiqued and here I am starting a blog that essential the whole world could read.  I guess it is a new year and a chance for me reach outside of my comfort zone!!!

I will write more after I have had a chance to explore how this how blogging thing works and what I actually want to accomplish with this blog!
